Note: cell phone pic of lower quality. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Revolution, a Russian memorial was built in 1971 on Zaisan Hill. It honors Soviet soldiers. The mural depicts several landmark events emphasizing friendship between Russia and Mongolia.

The English translations are quite cryptic, so I have not yet grasped the facts, intent and implications of this memorial. But the view of the city is most impressive.
