The Americana Songwriting Academy is a part of the Sisters Folk Festival of Sisters, Oregon. Held each year at Camp Caldera, a few miles from Sisters, between Labor Day and the start of the Sisters Folk Festival, about half the instructors are performers that will entertain at the upcoming Festival and the others brought back by student appreciation.
The camp's students are also about half returnees and half newbies, all welcome in the fold of the very supportive "tribe." Classes vary according to the strengths of the instructors, from lyrics to idea-generating to guitar-playing styles to vocal techniques to alternative tunings to rhythm, to…
Camping is comfy: tents, tipis, or craftsman-style wood rooms. The meals are provided by Annie Johnston, famous for her incredibly delicious variety of ample food, including accomodations for those with food intolerances.
